Evolution of The Board

Why would an adult play with a heap of little colorfull boxes and spend hours and hours on the internet to find out everything about them and wire them up in a certain order only to tear it all appart again, sell certain ones, buy new ones and wire them all up again every month? Sounds imature to you? - It sure is, but it's just too much fun. I feel like Bob the builder, like I actually achieved something everytime I rearranged/cleaned up my pedalboard. And even though my guitar sounds best when plugged directly into my amp, all this little gimmicks actually make me happy. So here is a short acount of my toys.

The last 8 month my board evolved from this:

To this:

The main difference is that I used to play my amps (Orange AD30) second channel for distortion while I now use individual distortionpedals into my amp for that purpose. The amp is set to almost breakup and I use a homemade Z-Vex Box of Rock Clone (top left of the wah) and a Danelectro Cool Cat TO (Funny looking golden pedal(Sits there until I get my Timmy - jepp I'm on the waiting list-grinn)). Even though the amps distortion was really nice and crunchy, I like it more this way cause it makes my delays more usable and the BOR sounds fantastic (sometimes even better than the amps distortion) when it hits that Orangetubes (or the DR-Clones).

And this is the signal path:
Guitar (Squier Tele or Aria LP or Seagull 12string acoustic(in open C for slide))>RAT>Loop-Box(with built in cleanboost (my buffer))
Loop-send>Fuzz Factory(my favourite at the mom.)>Whammy4(always my favourite;D)>Boss TU-2>POG2>Nobels Tremolo>Boss LM-2 Limiter (to boost/ fatten up/ compress the signal when I play the Seagull)>Loop-return
From the Looper it goes to the Wah (The cheapest Dunlop with a diy-built-in-switchable Benderfuzz (My very favourite pedal))> Danelectro CTO>BOR-clone>Memory Man-Hazarai> Marshall Echohead> Amp (Orange or DR-Clone)

Typing this really makes me want to play my guitar ;D

  2. Hey Augshejais,

Nice to hear from another gearhead. You're from Riga right? Love your Teleblog, but unfortunately don't understand anything on the "gitara ir speks" - blog (except for gitara ;D). Do you actually speak German? - Respect!

Anyway, the Nobels Tremolo... It's awesome isn't it? I used to play the way more expensive t.c.electronics tremolo but I much prefer the sound of this little box, plus it's purple! ;D With the remote jack you can remote control (surprise!) the pedal via a Nobels control unit. I don't care for remote though and so I use it as it is. Theres all in there - it excels from slow swells to heava stutter and even has a tone control - the perfect trem.
    Cheers
    Ben

  3. yeah I'm from Riga, and yes I can speak german :)

Nobels TR-X is a great fx indeed. Got it used from a guitarworld.de member ;)
I wonder if some sort of small tap-tempo-style box (a footswitch alike) could be used to activate the trem..that's why I asked. This is my first tremolo ever (if we don't count the one which was built into BOSS ME-50) and I am really happy with it, the versatility of it just kicks a**!

p.s.: Ģitārā ir spēks bedeutet etwa "Die Macht liegt in der Gitarre" oder so. :)

    Grüße aus Riga!
