My Deluxe Reverb Klone

I have this amp now for half a year and thought I should post a review on the harmony central. It's still beeing processed and until it appears on their side you can read here what I think about my little Fender-Klone.

This category doesn't make sense for my amp since it's custom built. It has all the features I want, and nothing I don't want.

It's a DR-clone in a Tweedhousing (best of both worlds to me (sound-blackface, looks-tweed ;D))

It has a Vol, Bass, Treb and Revpot on/off and Standbyswitch. I wanted the DR Clean and Tubeoverdrive (when pushed)but didn't need the Trem. Does what I want it for perfect, however I give it a 8 cause it's not a Metalamp and doesn't have tons of clean headroom. It doesn't have a Mastervol either (cause I didn't want it) and is not the most versatile amp on the planet, but it's the perfect amp for me.

Sound: 10

I play a Partscaster Tele with overwound singlecoils and a MIJ Les Paul with Seymour Duncan Alnico IIs and it works great with both, but there is certainly something magical about the Tele-DR-Hookup.

It stays clean until 2/3s of the Volpot (with the LP a little less) and then it starts to produce that mean Fenderoverdrive. Sounds awesome. I use it to play quiet giggs with my Pop and Worshipcombos or to really roar with my Rockband. It excells at both applications.

Probably due to the resonating housing it is has lots of pretty loose bass. Sounds very warm but can easily be dialled out if not wanted. the Tonecontrols work great - no drastic soundchanges, but the ability to adjust the great Sound to any guitar and venue.

I have this amp for about half a year now and it always worked fine, except the one time I broke a tranny by wrongly connecting the reverb cables - but thats not the amps fault right?

If anything happens, Friedhelm will take propper care of it.

Couldn't be better!

Before I bought the amp we exchanged about 20 emails to nail the details and just talk amps and music - he was very friendly and helpfull.

After I broke the aforementioned transformator I sent it back to Friedhelm. He fixed it and even payed half of the replacement! While it was at his workshop he also finetuned the amp to my specifications (different volpot, different preamptube for quiet opperation) for free!

I'm thrilled about working with this guy, he really wanted to build the perfect amp for me - nothing less.

The Brew live

Gestern the Brew live in Dortmund gesehen und bin immer noch geflasht wie gut Jason Barwick Gitarre spielen kann. Er schüttelt Hendrix und SRV-licks nur so aus dem Ärmel und legt dabei so einige Kilometer mit seinem wilden Rumgehüpfe zurück. Ihm zuzusehen war ein sehr ernüchterndes Erlebnis für mich als Gitarrist - im positiven Sinne. Dann war da noch der Drummer Kurtis Smith, der einen ziemlich kraftvollen Stil spielt und seine Sticks während der Show im gesamten Zuschauerraum verteilt. Sein Vater (!!!) Tim Smith spielt eine einfachen Bass und sorgt dafür, dass sich das Ü-50 Publikum nicht so alt fühlt, denn Jason B. ist erst 20 Jahre alt (!!!!!).

Fazit: Wer Hendrix, Zeppelin und SRV mag, für den ist ein Brew Konzert fast schon ein religiöses Erlebnis. Unbedingt anschauen (Die Deutschlandtour hat grad erst begonnen und sie nehmen wirklich das ganze Bundesgebiet mit)
